Easy Chocolate Cake Recipe – Soft & Moist Homemade Cake

Dry Ingredients:
  • 1 ¾ cups (220g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder

  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda

  • ¾ cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar

  • ½ tsp salt

Wet Ingredients:
  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk

  • ½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup (240ml) boiling water

Instructions
1. Prepare Oven and Pans
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans (or line with parchment paper).

2. Mix Dry Ingredients
  1. In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  2. Stir in sugar until evenly combined.

3. Mix Wet Ingredients
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla.

  2. Slowly add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until smooth.

  3. Carefully stir in boiling water (batter will be thin – that’s normal).

4. Bake
  1. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.

  2. Bake 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  3. Cool 10 minutes in pans, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.

5. Frost and Serve
  • Spread chocolate ganache or buttercream between layers and on top.

  • Decorate with chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or fresh berries.

  • Slice and enjoy!
